What will my acupuncture treatment involve and how many treatments will I need?
First, we do a comprehensive intake on your health history, and answer any questions you may have. Then, you lie down in a peaceful room for your treatment. Wearing loose-fitting clothes or shorts is helpful, but warm towels are also available for draping.
As I insert the needles you may feel a tiny poke or you may not feel anything at all. Once the needles are in you may feel various sensations such as tingling, a heavy sensation, temperature changes, pressure, etc. These sensations will dissipate as we work, and you should not feel uncomfortable. If any discomfort occurs, you will let me know and I will adjust the needle or remove it.
Once all the needles are in, you rest for 10-30 minutes. Generally, even needle-phobic people find acupuncture to be a soothing, peaceful experience. Patients leave the office much more grounded and relaxed than when they came in.
